Meet Dr. Alper

Dr. Alper has been caring for the residents of Belmont, Watertown, Cambridge, and the surrounding areas since 1985. Originally from Long Island, NY, Dr. Alper saw his podiatric training take him to various parts of the country - schooling in Ohio, internships in Washington DC at Bethesda Naval Hospital and in Jacksonville, FL, and surgical residency in Kansas City, MO. This was followed by a year of teaching and training in Jerusalem, Israel at Hadassah Hospital.

Having chosen Belmont as both his home and place of business, Dr. Alper strives to be a working part of his professional and community societies. Over the years, he served in several leadership roles of the MA Podiatric Medical Society, and was chosen as President for the 2000-2001 term. He also continues to serve as a MA delegate to his national professional society, The American Podiatric Medical Assn., having been elected several times by his peers for this role.

The Belmont community sees Dr. Alper as not only a "town doctor" but a leader in town government. Since 1989 he has served as Chair of the Belmont Board of Health and as a Town Meeting Member. He has served on several Town committees, including chairing the Youth Commission for over 6 years. You will also find him as a representative to the Belmont Religious Council and on the Beth-El Temple Board of Trustees. His local volunteer work was recognized by the Belmont/Watertown Chamber of Commerce in 2000 when he was honored as Citizen of the Year.

With diabetes such an integral part of his practice, Dr. Alper has spent years working with the American Diabetes Association in order to try to further the care, and improve the lifestyles of people with diabetes. He is honored to serve as President of the ADA - Northeast Region and as a member of the Legislative Committee of the National Board. At home he enjoys the company of his wife and three teenage children.

When not doing all of the above, Dr. Alper loves of traveling, antiquing, nature activities, being a dad - and blacksmithing.

His established family practice is here to treat everyone from 6 months to 100 and 6 months.
